| Erie Canal Books
Over the years we have managed to purchase and collect many old and some out of print books about the Erie Canal, the people, packet boats, places and historical times when the canal was in full operation.
We offer them here a few at a time at what we consider reasonable prices. Many titles are long forgotten. All are great reading for anyone interested in the times and life as it was on the Erie Canal.
We will be changing titles as books are sold. Many are one of a kind. Some we have duplicates of. Condition and other important information about each book will be posted with the story-line and description. All are in good to better condition, some even with dust jackets.

The Erie Canal by Samuel Hopkins Adams $35 Illustrated by Leonard Vosburg Published in New York by Random House, Inc. (1953)
Hard Cover 182 pages 8" x 5 3/4"
This is a well written account of the Erie Canal from the initial idea to its completion as told to Mr. Adams by his grandfather, who had a hand in the digging of the canal working for his father who was one of the original canal contractors and built several sections of "Clinton's ditch".
This book would have made a great school history guide book as it is written in simple language and gives excellent detail to all of the events of the day. It covers the development of the canal from one end to the other. It speaks of the costs involved, The Irish Workers, The First Canallers, Going through Solid Rock, From Lake Erie to the Sea, Off for Albany, The Canal grows Up and so much more.
Items purchased from the Erie Canal Store will be processed and shipped within 3 business days. For any questions about our products, email or call us at (315) 492-4523.
